Inpatient Psychiatrist at Central Regional Hospital

Central Regional Hospital (CRH) is one of three state psychiatric hospitals in NC, has 375 beds, employs over 50 physicians, and is conveniently located near the Triangle area of NC, comprised of Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill. CRH has a major teaching mission and is a training site for psychiatry residents and medical students from both the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Duke University as well as students from a variety of other disciplines. This environment provides a rich learning environment with weekly Grand Rounds and other educational opportunities. The hospital utilizes a biopsychosocial approach to guide patient assessment and treatment and has a comprehensive psychosocial rehabilitation program geared toward patients with severe and persistent mental illness.

We are currently recruiting for a Psychiatrist on the Adult Admissions Unit (AAU), a 150-bed unit that provides inpatient treatment for adults ages 18 to 64 who require short-term and intermediate stays to help them stabilize for return to the community. There are opportunities to supervise residents and medical students and also to provide electroconvulsive therapy if interested. This opportunity provides an excellent benefits package with student loan repayment and retirement benefits as well as minimal after-hours coverage.

If interested, please contact Alan Cook, MD, Chief Medical Officer, at [email protected] or 919-764-5438.
