New Hanover Regional Medical Center Behavioral Health
In 2008, New Hanover Regional Medical Center changed the paradigm in Behavioral Health by hiring a dedicated team of Psychiatrists committed to providing the highest level of quality inpatient care. The team has grown from 4 physicians to an impressive group of seven physicians with the goal of adding additional Psychiatrists over the next two years and expanding the Behavioral Health service line to telepsychiatry and outpatient care.
We seek to hire Inpatient-based Psychiatrists to provide services within the medical center and our 62 bed BHH. Responsibilities include inpatient consults in the patient towers and Women and Children’s Hospital; team management in the BHH for evaluating and treating patients with depression, adjustment disorders, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, psychotic and personality disorders; and a strong presence in the NHRMC Emergency Department evaluating psychiatric patients.BHH Inpatient units include: Dual-Diagnosis Unit, Behavioral Medicine Unit and Progressive Treatment Unit. Primarily Adult Medicine.
The ideal candidate for our team is a physician who can provide the highest quality diagnostic and treatment services delivered in a caring and efficient way. Our physicians serve as leaders of the clinical treatment team and work collaboratively with Advanced Practice Psychiatric Nurses and Nurse Practitioners. The Inpatient program requires a flexible, even tempered individual who works well in a rapidly paced, ever-changing environment. Being helpful to patients, nurses, support staff and one’s peers is mandatory.
