When Disaster Hits
Information for Families and Professionals
The tragedy of September 11,
2001 and other disasters will leave many people with questions and concerns.
Below are some documents prepared by North Carolina psychiatrist Thomas M.
Haizlip, M.D. with the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry of the
University of North Carolina and with Dorothea Dix Hospital. Dr. Haizlip is a
past recipient of the American Psychiatric Association's Bruno Lima, M.D.,
Award for Excellence in Disaster Psychiatry. He is kind enough to share his
materials on this website to help those in need.
